HaPPy HaLLoWeen!

Here are a few pictures after all of our Halloween fun was over!

Our Little Ladybug with her football star dad!

Luke had a last minute costume change saying that he didn't want to wear make-up again! We grabbed what we had at home, and he thought being a cowboy worked out great. Ty wanted to stick with the scary jack-o-lantern and, once again, he looked like a cool dude!

To Infinity And Beyond!

Luke and Ty think they are hot stuff in their new Power Rangers and Buzz Lightyear sweats! Thanks for keeping us warm, grandma!

Mad Jack-O-Lantern!

I had to add this one. Ty and I were all ready for a fun Friday morning halloween activity for the stay-at-home moms until we received a phone call, as we were walking out the door, telling us that the date had changed. Needless to say, Ty wasn't super happy about that, but we'll be there for sure this coming Tuesday!

Luke's Kindergarten Halloween Parade Day

Luke is ready to run and catch the bus!

He was really good at marching around the school as a scary jack-o-lantern!

This is his teacher, Mrs. Kurtzweil.
IT WAS A VERY FUN DAY!

Conference & Ty

Before conference yesterday morning Janice and I were watching the Music and the Spoken Word broadcast. While we were watching, we noticed Ty came into the room and stopped what he was doing when he heard the music. He then went running out to his room to find Luke. We then overheard him say to Luke..."Come on, church music is playing on the TV." Later, as he was watching, he paused the TV to find Janice and tell her that the choir was singing "I'm Trying to be Like Jesus." Every now and again it's nice to know that your kids recognize the things that they are being taught.

Conference was good as usual. A couple things really stood out to me. It seemed a lot of emphasis was placed on all types of media and the messages that we are receiving. One line in particular that stood out was (and I paraphrase) "If you are watching something and you think it's not too bad, that must also mean it's not too good." Again, I'm sure I butchered that, but the message was clear. I also really appreciated Elder Oaks speaking about good, better, and best. Sometimes we do good things, but we can do better things, and ultimately we can do the best things. I felt the same way listening to Elder Perry during Priesthood session. Just because we can "clear the bar" doesn't mean it's the best we can do. Minimum requirements are there to set a standard to live to, but it doesn't mean we can't push ourselves to be even better.

Anyway, just wanted to share some of my feelings.
