St Louis Zoo

One of the benefits to living in the St. Louis area is access to so many fun activities. The St. Louis Zoo is not only great, but it is also FREE!!!! Well, it had been a few years since we last went, so we decided it would be fun to go again on Saturday. As it turns out, we picked one of the hottest days so far this summer. It was over 100 degrees yesterday. Thankfully we stayed hydrated and found a few spots to cool ourselves off. Below are some of the pictures we took.

Luke LOVES sharks!! There was a display at the zoo with sharks and stingrays, and he loved it. Here's a picture of his touching the stingray. As you can see, Kate wasn't as brave. She came around though.

The penguin exibit was fun. It was nice and cold on the inside. A nice break from the heat. It was almost too cold though. Extreme heat to extreme cold.

Most of the bears were hiding in their caves, escaping the heat. However, we walked by the black bear just in time for it to make a pass by. The ape was pretty cool. It actually started jumping around beating its chest while we were there.

One of the many cooling stations we found

You would have thought we were in Africa with how hot it was! Look at Kate's red face.

Ultimately, I think the lion had the right idea

I think the kids favorite part of the day was finding the waterfall to cool off after all the walking around we did.

Had to throw one more picture in with Max joining the other kids.
